Torrent 2.0
Back in April, we broke ground for our new facility — a big milestone for Torrent. Silicon Valley is full of stories of companies started in garages; Torrent may be the first to have started in a 150-square foot “bathroom”-like space. Who knew that we would go from that small space to a 20,000sf facility with best-in-class technology and equipment to support growing environmental testing needs?
What has remained consistent through Torrent’s 30 years of growth is our values and commitment to quality and reliability. Torrent operates on three core principles:Six Sigma, Kaizen (continuous improvement) and lean thinking. We have intentionally chosen to prioritize the quality and accuracy of our testing over being known as the lowest-cost laboratory. We believe that the long-term costs associated with poor-quality testing far exceed any initial price savings. Our commitment is to deliver reliable and timely test results, ensuring the highest standards for our clients.
We also started Torrent with a clear vision to build a workplace where employees don’t just come for a paycheck. We wanted to build something with people we believe in and who were equally committed to making a lasting impact on the community and the environment. It’s no wonder more than half of my team has been with Torrent for over 15 years!
Lastly, we will forever be thankful to the city of Milpitas. It has been Torrent’s homeground since day one. Businesses and cities have a symbiotic relationship. The city is part of Torrent’s success and gives us an environment where we can thrive as a business. In return, Torrent has been proud to contribute to the city’s economic growth while also supporting the community in building new homes, bringing students to our lab for their science projects, and offering hazardous materials testing services to churches and the community so they can safely build play spaces for children.
As we get ready to inaugurate our new building later this year, I am full of gratitude to my family, my team and all our clients who trust us with their projects. Onward and upward!
